Our Pottery

All of our pottery is imported from the Boleslawiec region of Poland.  We do this because Polish pottery from this region is renowned World-wide for its quality, durability and for the beauty of its designs. The pottery is hand made and all of the patterns are hand sponged so no two pieces are absolutely identical.  This means that each item has its own special quality and is in someway unique.  On the bottom of each item of pottery is the manufacturer's trademark as well as a number to indicate which employee of the manufacturer made the pottery.

Boleslawiec pottery is classified as white bodied stoneware, which means that it is pot fired to a very high temperature in excess of 1350 degrees centigrade to make the body as hard as stone. This makes the pottery extremely functional, even without a glaze.

In addition to being decorative, the stoneware is oven, dishwasher, and microwave-safe.  It is also lead and cadmium free and because of the hardness of the pottery it is very resistant to chipping.  The stoneware is so durable that it can be safely used as your everyday dinnerware!
